P.L.A.Y. was built with one goal in mind: give every girl in the region the chance to step onto the field, pick up a stick, and grow in the game of lacrosse. Whether your daughter is brand new to the sport or has a season or two under her belt, P.L.A.Y. provides a structured, encouraging environment where fundamentals come first and confidence follows. Our P.L.A.Y. seasons may conclude with a Play Day Opportunity based on interested participants, giving players a chance to apply what they’ve learned in a fun, supportive game environment. P.L.A.Y. is designed to break down barriers to entry, expand access to the game in communities where lacrosse opportunities may be limited, and enhance the youth opportunities in communities where lacrosse is thriving.
The P.L.A.Y programming runs in focused training blocks designed to build skills progressively. Players leave stronger in their fundamentals, more confident in game situations, and excited to continue developing. We focus on building strong foundations; stick skills, footwork, spacing, passing, catching, defensive positioning, and field awareness. Every session is intentional. Every drill has a purpose. Every player is coached.
P.L.A.Y. is a developmental academy focused on:
- Repetition and skill mastery
- Clear, age-appropriate instruction
- Positive coaching and steady progress
- Game understanding built step-by-step
- Girls curious about trying lacrosse for the first time
- Multi-sport athletes looking to build new skills
- Players with some experience who want more reps
- Families seeking a positive, organized introduction to the game
No experience necessary. Just effort and a willingness to learn. New Player? If your daughter has never played before, she belongs here. We break the game down in a way that makes sense. We create space for mistakes, questions, and growth. No experience required—just a willingness to try. Experienced Player? If she’s played recreationally or for a season or two and wants to sharpen her skills, P.L.A.Y. gives her the repetitions and coaching needed to move forward with confidence.
In many Pittsburgh communities, lacrosse access is limited. P.L.A.Y. is designed to change that.
We are committed to:
- Lowering barriers to entry
- Keeping the program affordable and accessible
- Bringing high-quality instruction to more neighborhoods
- Developing interested community members into recreational coaches
- Creating opportunity where there hasn’t been enough
